Farabi Hospital began its activities in Bahman 1356 (February 1978) under the name of Ninth Aban Hospital, with the women's and men's psychiatric departments. After the glorious Islamic Revolution, the name of the hospital was changed from Ninth Aban to Farabi; then, in 1358 (1979-1980), the tuberculosis, urology, orthopedics, and maxillofacial departments were added to this complex for a short period, and simultaneously with the beginning of the imposed war, a section called Shahid Rajaei was established to provide services to war wounded. In 1370 (1991-1992), ophthalmology departments were opened along with four operating rooms and specialized clinics, and in 1386 (2007-2008), the hospital's emergency room was built with the efforts of respected benefactors and began its activities. Since 1393 (2014-2015), after a period of recession in the ophthalmology and general departments, and simultaneously with the start of the health transformation plan, most of the hospital's departments were reconstructed, and in 1394 (2015-2016), this hospital was renamed Farabi Specialized and Subspecialty Complex with the aim of becoming a reference hospital by changing its mission. Currently, the ophthalmology complex of this complex, using specialized and subspecialized physicians in all fields, as well as suitable spaces such as specialized clinics, day clinics, operating rooms, and using advanced equipment and performing all specialized eye surgeries, is serving the people of the province as the second ophthalmology hub of the province alongside Feyz Hospital. Currently, this complex has 6 psychiatric departments for women and men, internal departments, surgery, LDR and women and newborns departments, day clinic, ICU, dialysis, men's and women's psychiatric emergency room, decontamination emergency room, and general emergency room. Paraclinic units include laboratory, blood bank, radiology, sonography, CT scan, PET CT scan, physiotherapy, technical orthopedics, pharmacy, and ophthalmology services such as OCT, YAG laser, PRP laser, biometry and perimetry, cornea, retina and strabismus, optometry, keratometry, etc. On the other hand, in the specialized complex of Ghadir Clinic, including the comprehensive health assessment center, health promotion clinics (nutrition, diabetes, and follow-up after discharge), psychiatry, pre-surgical assessment clinic, internal medicine, ophthalmology, women's, pediatrics, orthopedics, general surgery, midwifery, internal medicine of the brain and nerves, brain and nerve surgery, infectious diseases, cardiology, endocrinology and metabolism, and dentistry, welcomes clients, and according to the province's health roadmap in the coming years, the pediatrics department, NICU, cancer diagnosis and screening center will be added to this complex. In addition, the comprehensive 850-bed hospital development plan is being compiled according to the resolution of the university's board of directors, and with the investment of the private sector, a type 3 cancer treatment center will be established in this complex.
